Our Libraries
At the Orchard Lea Federation we want to instill a love of Reading in our children....
A part of this is having a well-stocked school library, where we aim to have something for everyone – exciting fiction, including popular authors and new writers, across many different genres, and a wide range of non-fiction.
Each class has a weekly library visit, when the children can browse the books on the shelves and change their library books. There are also other opportunities across the week when children can visit the library including break times and lunchtimes. Mrs Bowman and Mrs Gamble are the Librarians and will always be able to support the children with anything library related.
We hold a scholastic book fair most years .The commission generated by these events helps us to buy new books to replace lost and damaged ones and to purchase new titles. We are very grateful to parents for their support with the book fairs – this is important to enable us to maintain our stock.

When we hear children read in school, alongside their phonic skills we also support their comprehension skills.
Below you will find a list of possible questions to help you with conversations about your child’s reading. They are not intended to be used all at once or every time you read with your child. Use them at your discretion and where they are appropriate. Happy Reading !
